Sexy in the X Files
Yes indeed.
shareJust started re-watching the X-Files, and wow.... she is stunning and looks really sophisticated, especially with that whole late 90s un-flashy formal minimalism. Black business suits, trench coats, plus her striking blond hair and blue eyes. Nice mix. She looked really different from how she looked a few years later in The Mist.

Yeah, I watched the xfiles during its original run and I never even noticed she was the same actress when I started watching The Walking Dead. She is really pretty in the Xfiles...unfortunately I cringed every single time she opened her mouth because of a quirk she had: every time she delivered a line, she would start it with the sound of the letter "a" attached to the first word.
"A-they found evidence of alien abduction..."
"A-when you called me I was making dinner. A-steak."
I think she is trying to sound smooth and cultured, but it comes out extremely irritating.
Oddly, I also hated her character on The Walking Dead...but I think that was because of how they wrote her, not necessarily anything to do with the actress herself. She just did way too much complaining.
Very sexy, yes. And she wasn't even trying!
She's sexy AND she's a humanitarian - she participated in a sting operation overseas to help bust a sex trafficking ring. Overall, a really nice chick!
I didn’t watch The X-Files during its initial run on TV, but I was able to catch up via DVD once the show was over. I think “she is stunning and looks really sophisticated, especially with that whole late 90s un-flashy formal minimalism. Black business suits, trench coats, plus her striking blond hair and blue eyes. Nice mix.” pretty much summed up how she looked in her role as Marita Covarrubias on the show rather well.
I remember she instantly made an impression upon her first appearance in Season 4. I thought Marita was a really intriguing character who might’ve seemed a certain way at first, but then revealed different layers to her as she appeared on the show more (though not as often as I would’ve liked, unfortunately). I was really disappointed we only got very sporadic appearances from her as the seasons went on. I thought she even managed to look not too bad in that one episode where we found out she’d been experimented on and was looking deathly pale and...well...like death warmed up.
I did like that when she had Krycek released, she brought up the fact that he'd left her for dead (I wish they’d kept the extended cut of the scene in the episode). Their make-out session in one episode was certainly something. Theirs was an odd/complicated ‘relationship’ (if one could even call it that). I remember when I wasn’t watching the show on TV and only saw the ads for it, I thought she and Krycek were supposed to be like ‘evil’ versions of Scully and Mulder, though obviously I didn’t really know anything about the show at that time.
Anyway, I can’t say I ever had a problem with the way Laurie Holden spoke as Marita in the show. In fact, I rather enjoyed it. It seemed to me like she was speaking very precisely and choosing her words carefully. There was never any stumbling over her words or anything, and I found the way she spoke had a sort of ‘rhythm’ to it – I don’t know how else to explain it. I just found that whenever she spoke, I was entranced and paying full attention to everything she was saying. It was quite a surprise to find she didn’t in fact speak that way in other roles. I always look forward to episodes with her in them when I rewatch my DVDs. She was one of my favourite guest stars (and I was very thankful that she survived...though whether she continues to do so remains to be seen).
