Why did they cast her as Andrea?

I never understood that. When I actually saw her and Amy together during the first season I literally thought Andrea was her mom. In the comics she's 25, why the heck would they just decide to make her ten years older?

They just completely messed up the character for the TV show. It was as if they just put the smallest amount of effort into her character and hope that fans would like it. It's *beep* retarded

Because she's a good actress, wonderful human being and suited the character. Frank Darabont originally asked her to audition for Lori before casting her as Andrea.

Did aging her really have any affect on the story of the show?

A 25 year old is admittedly more likely to have taken off on a road trip with their sis than someone older and more established in their life but other than that I can't see why it wouldn't work.

If she was younger her position in Woodbury wouldn't have been nearly as believable.

Haven't read the comics but I really liked her

I liked that she was older. It brought more to the character than if she had been in her 20s.

I actually really liked Andrea in general.

It didn't have any effect on the show's story, though if the show had followed the comics more closely it would have mattered more. And honestly them not following the comics in that regard was kinda a bad move imo. In the comics, Andrea and Dale are an item from shortly after her sister died to the cannibals arc, and their major age difference plays a pretty big part in their character developments.

But since Dale didn't even make it past season 2 in the show, and Andrea was unrecognizable to her comic counterpart (beyond the blonde hair and name) I suppose it doesn't matter much.
