Playing a fisherman in Bermuda?

Prolific screenwriter Steven Knight surely has one of the most successful and fascinating careers in Hollywood. I'm a huge, huge fan. From his board comes this news -

Have you thought about directing again?

KNIGHT: I’m doing it in April.

What’s that project?

KNIGHT: It’s a very different story, but it’s the story of a fisherman. It’s going to be shot in Bermuda.

We know that Tom will star in the film from a previous interview with Mr Knight. So is TH playing the fisherman? Alone on a boat in shark infested waters? Hero or villain? Thoroughly intrigued and can't wait to learn more.

Steven mentions Leonard Cohen was a fan of Peaky Blinders. I wish he'd shared how he knew that or if he'd met him or was a friend.

For all you Tom Hardy fans out there... I had a chat with Steven Knight (writer/director of Locke & Peaky Blinders, amongst others) at the festival last night and it turns out his next project is to direct a film in Bermuda starring - you guessed it - Tom Hardy! Principal photography begins in a couple of months' time...
Bermuda, anyone?

After seeing this, I remember finding something online from the Bermuda film office or some site like that about someone scouting Bermuda this summer for a Tom Hardy film but the decision was going to come down to price. Probably around the time TH was in Antigua.

I can't find the interview but it was at the end of a Peaky Blinders piece where Steven was asked about working with Tom and he talked about their next project together being very different, more normal. I guess as a Bermuda fisherman he won't be throwing his catches back in the water. Hope he likes the smell of fish lol.

Steven Knight said he was directing Tom in this movie. Did he pull out because of Triple Frontier? A real shame, think quite a few Hardy fans were looking forward to this one. Not a McConaughey fan but I like Hathaway.

We’re hearing the project is a mysterious tale of a fishing boat captain whose past is about to crash up against his life on a small island in the Caribbean, ensnaring him in a new reality that might not be all it seems. A number of U.S. studios are said to be circling the project already. Filming is expected to begin this summer.

Yes saw this today and a bit disappointed. I was intrigued with the premise but as we all know he has more projects than time. I thought even Tom mentioned something but perhaps my imagination.

I think he said in some interview around Xmas time that he would be doing 3 movies back to back but did not say what three movies. Beyond knowing that Fonzo starts filming in April in Vancouver.

I had assumed when he mentioned April it was the Bermuda project but great to know it's Fonzo. Isn't it an independent movie so would wrap up fairly quickly? Wouldn't it be awesome if it was released in time for Hardy's Capone to compete with Oldman's Churchill for Best Actor. That would be more nail biting and entertaining than watching any edge of your seat sporting showdown lol.

What a shame this isn't happening with Tom, Knight said it would be a different role than what we have been used to seeing him in and that's why I was especially looking forward to it. Boo hoo, I say!

It appears my hypocrisy knows no bounds.

thanks for the info

I'm sad this isn't happening with Tom any more. I was so looking forward to him doing something like this out of the norm.
Oh well I'm sure there will be other opportunities. Good luck Sir.
