Notoriously rude and self obsessed

I work in a "service" role, and in order to keep my job all I will say is that I work a lot of "opening nights"

I am immune to celebrity. I expect nothing from anybody while doing my job other that the minimum of courtesy or common decency.

Having seen Ms Griffiths talking passionately about the rights of refugees and asylum seekers, I assumed she would also extend this compassionate world view to those in her immediate vicinity; people simply trying to do their job.

I was wrong. I was treated with disdain, ignored, and given filthy looks all while attempting to do a job I had been asked to do.

Having recently had brief dealings with Pierce Brosnan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kylie Minogue and Cate Blanchett, which all passed with quite polite exchanges, I see no reason why Ms Griffiths could not behave herself.

I do not want to be their friends. I just expect some common decency.

On sharing this experience, I have learnt from friends in the business that she is indeed a prima donna. She is rude to dressers, publicists, make-up artist. You are not permitted to talk to her - even when working with her. And she is a regular petulant hissy fit thrower.

I find this disconnect between her advocacy for refugees rights and her contempt for the people around her bizarre.

Ok. That is all.

Yes I have a friend who has worked with her on a few films and he used the c word to describe her and he is affable and much loved on film sets

How sad to hear that. I have a theory: I suppose she was the typical ugly little duckling when she was a young girl, so the sudden popularity and being considered somewhat attractive, must have changed her personality (for the worse).

I remember watching her in "Muriel's Wedding" and I would have never imagined such a career.

reply

Really? I have seen quite the opposite. A lot of spoiled, popular, pretty, girls who never suffered in their lives are the most rude.

reply

Well, this has certainly changed my views on her. I'm not sure I will enjoy watching her again acting.

I wouldn't worry about it...she's probably popular in Australia but she could walk down almost any street outside of LA and no one would know who the hell she is, now that Six Feet Under has been over for over a decade. During those years, maybe. I couldn't tell you the last thing she was in I saw.

And there are multiple threads about her being a BEYOTCH so usually where there's smoke there's fire.

That being said, some fans are obnoxious and rude. The OP clearly is not in this bunch and not even a fan and I believe her.

I'm from New Orleans, and I used to have an employee that worked at the Windsor Court hotel (very uppity hotel) in the "Windsor Room" restaurant as a server. He told me the cool celebs and the jerks, and from what I've read he was spot-on. He said by FAR, the biggest PRICK he ever met was Tommy Lee Jones...he actually ruined some couple's honeymoon or engagement dinner he said. He told my friend to get rid of those scum or he would leave...something like that...they were sitting too close, apparently.

Interesting, but I don't see why it would be the ugly duckling that becomes the prima donna. I'd think it would be the ones that are told they're beautiful from early age and it never stops for them.

Hello Slidell333, I live in NOLA proper, so I know the location mentioned.

What I don't get is that in your opinion it's some sort of put-down to say someone would not be recognized in America. As if they care. Most actors would give their right arm, or their first-born to stop being recognized. Unless one has always wanted & now has new fame, which is pathetic IMO.

Actors of Rachel Griffiths' caliber are there to work, not primp or be fawned over, or to prop up staff's egos make sure everyone likes her. It takes concentration to do the great job she does, obviously consistently as her awards section denotes.

I'm sorry but I think the OP here is kind of whining. The talent doesn't need to "behave herself." I that statement says loads about you, OP!

Someone's at the door
