Why? Why boycott it? It can't diminish the original, that movie is already made. A movie that is already made can't be ruined by a remake. Just ignore it, don't try to ruin it for everyone else who is excited to see it. Suspiria is one of my favorite horrors, DGG is one of my favorite filmmakers, and I am excited to see it. You could much easier just ignore it than try to ruin it for the rest of us.

Surely the only reason people like Suspira is because of Argento? I mean, the story and the characters are so thin, it's all about Argento's style and approach to filmmaking. If you take those elements out of the equation, then you're left with a sub-par B-film that doesn't make a great deal of sense. So again, why remake it; especially if they're going to discard all the elements that made the original film so memorable in the first place?

Once again; this is Hollywood failing to realise what it is that makes these films so interesting in the first place and just trying to cash in on an iconic cult-brand.

I always laugh at people that shun remakes. Guess what, it's gonna happen regardless. You're powerless to stop it. So just enjoy the original and TRY to enjoy the remake.

I normally shun remakes, but because DGG is behind Suspiria, I'm excited for it. I know a lot of people are really trashing the idea, but if you listen to DGG talk about how he is planning on doing it, it sounds like he could do something new with it.

Why laugh? When the weight of "good remakes" vs. "bad remakes" is still in single digits, it's a natural reaction to be protective. Ask the vast majority of people about The Wicker Man for example and they'll quote you some awful film about bee-keepers with Nic Cage shouted "how did it burn, how did it burn?". Again, these remakes don't work because producers think that the story is what made the original film so memorable, when in reality it was to do with context and originality.

Regardless of the pro-remake debate, my point was simply that the majority people only like Suspiria for Argento's direction. The plot is meaningless, the characters two-dimensional and the idea of an everyday location acting as a front for witchcraft completely unoriginal! Therefore, if you remove Argento's direction from the equation you simply have a dull, B-movie horror thriller.

So, why not just take the story and do your own film? Change the character names, change the location and change the title and there you go... an original film! It's that simple. However, producers know that by calling the film "Suspiria", they're tapping into a pre-existing audience, co-opting the cult "brand" and trying to score money off audiences who, when faced with the choice of a big-budget Hollywood film and a little independent production from Italy, will always go for the more recent picture.
