David Gordon Green (less than) Kevin Smith
David Gordon Green < Kevin Smith
Becuase he's petty, for no other reason.

shareYeah, but the line's funny. And true.
Nothing left except Clorox bottles and plastic fly swatters with red dots on them!
The specific quote is "He lowered the bar. He didn't make it easier to get in, he just turned independent filmmaking into a kind of Special Olympics."
Which Smith happened to find quite funny.

It is true. Look at their two body of works. Green is ANYTHING but petty. The man has the nerve and poetic integrity to tackle subjects that have been trivialized in film for decades. Smith had a few nice hits but was a complete blow out. The man's body of work, subject matter and commentary on every genre but his own speaks for itself.
Hate Green or love him, but his work is original, well executed, thoughtful and ballsy. There is no comparing.
It is typical of a Smith fan to use "David Gordon Green < Kevin Smith" as their argument.
And pretty much proves Green's point.

Are you a bug Bill Murray?
Kevin Smith's films are all bad. I am sorry to say that, but has anyone actually seen Clerks 2? its on par with Not another teen movie with dialogue. Its *beep* awful. How does he have a cult following. His dialogue is so obvious and self conscious.
shareNeither one of these guys is a good director. But Kevins Smiths movies are generally funnier. I saw Pinaepple Express and Snow Angels in the same week and didnt much like either.
