this guy hates Kevin Smith?

I heard somewhere that David Gordon Green talked trash about Kevin Smith being a director. He said something about just the fact that Kevin Smith continues to make films, it brings film making down as a whole or something, lol

Can anyone confirm or deny this? And if it is true, can anyone show evidence?

Thanks :)

On kevin's first "evening with" dvd, he explains that when asked if he felt that kevin smith had helped open the door for young, indy writers, Green bashed Smith and said that he had turned film-making into "a kind of special olympics." Thats all I know of the "feud".... hope that helps

If anyone is still interested.....here's the famous interview from the Austin Chronicle.....

"I just have no idea what it's like to work in a convenience store, and it doesn't interest me either."

More than bashing Smith, he just sounds like an art school snob whose parents had enough money so he never had to take a crappy job in his life. Now he's doing stoner comedy with Seth Rogan, just like that hack he despises so much. I'll give him a break and say that in 2001, he probably thought people would kiss his ass and fund his arty films for the rest of his life, and now he has to make money.

I liked "Snow Angels", from what I remember of it, though.

That's rich, coming from the guy who made "Your Highness"... One line of Smith's dialogue is funnier than the entirety of "Your Highness".

It's such a shame, since I'm a huge fan of "All the Real Girls"... but Gordon Green does sound like a massive hypocrite, acting like it's OK for him to make dumbed down films, but no-one else can.

People can change over a 10 year period. Whether it be for the best or not. I'm sure alot of people here aren't the same people as they were 10 plus years ago.

After Your Highness and The Sitter, this man has no right to even call Uwe Boll a bad filmmaker.

100% agree, even if other attack you, do you have to bash out too? It's like being back in school.....he started it. Doesn't matter who did, Green's comments were childish and completely unnecessary.
