What the hell happened to this guy?

George Washington, All The Real Girls, Undertow, Snow Angels. All great movies. Mature, beautifully constructed. True to life. People were talking about him as being the next Malick.

Then he hooks up with Danny McBride and becomes the poor man's Judd Apatow.

I gave him a pass with Pineapple Express. I figured this was just something he wanted to get out of his system and it was mildly amusing.

Then came the atrocity that was Your Highness. Everything about it was incompetent. It was like he forgot how to direct. He degraded from a cut rate Apatow to a cut rate Kevin Smith.

Now the trailer for this upcoming piece of crap with the ever obnoxious Jonah Hill. A retread of Adventures In Babysitting. Wow.

Maybe he's been smoking too much weed with his pals Franco and and McBride his brain cells have died.

Jesus is my Best friend, but he still won't loan me money.

What? "Then he hooks up with Danny Mcbride?"

Mcbride was in "All the Real Girls." I think what happened is Mcbride got a few minor roles in some mainstream comedies and brought DGG along for the ride.

But yes, it's disappointing. I was a freshman in college when "George Washington" came out and, to be honest, it was kind of an inspiration to me at the time (I toyed around with short films for a few years). It's sad to see a former hero sell out like this.

This chump couldn't even hold a candle to Kevin Smith's dikcheese.

After seeing the trailer for The Sitter last night, I might have to conclude he has sold out for easy paydays with the Judd Apatow crew. I too, thought Pineapple Express would be a one-off.
Did he just decide there's only one Terrence Malick - and he's actually making more films these days - so he better change it up?
It's like he has no filmmaking identity anymore.

Your whole post is totally on-point.

So does anyone think he'll ever actually go back to making films like his first 4 features? I hope he does, but I also doubt he will.
