shareStage name. Her real name is Mary, but she's always been known by her family and friends as Mamie, which is what she goes by nowadays.
shareShe was only credited as Jane Gray in Heartburn and House of the Spirits, which were both Meryl's films, so her parents probably didn't want her to get connected to them... a privacy thing maybe.
The great gift of human beings is that we have the power of empathy - Meryl Streep
I'm guessing that she wants to make it on her own, which is a credit to her... She could easily take her mother's name and get parts that way but she doesn't. Of course she looks so much like Meryl, it's uncanny but she prefers to be known for her acting skills...
For every lie I unlearn I learn something new - Ani Difranco
I am currently consulting with Kay Unger/Phoebe Couture in NYC and in a few weeks we are having Mamie attend the celebration of the event with us at bloomingsdales to cheer (our) brand on the 5th floor.
I am the pr coordinator and my colleagues referred to her as "Meryl Streep's" daughter. I'm sure she thinks sometimes "would i have made it if it wasn't for my blood line" either way i need to see her roles in the movies to decide. she has roles coming up with some very famous names. good for her. hell, i wish my parents were actors how fun that would be...instead i am stuck with all the markets of medicine as my father pioneered lasik eye surgery and partnered with bioidentical hormonal restoration programs with his doctors with the fountain under www.jamyowensgroup.com ..my ceo.
anyway... coming from audience post to insider in ny, i can tell you from the inside she is known as the daughter. it got us talking about her either way!
:)
good day
