Have you never heard of push up bra's? They can make you look like you are double the size or more of what you actually are. I am not sure about the costumes on the show. Or what they used during those times. Maybe they wore something very tight to push up the cleavage. Not sure what part of the garment it was though.

Honestly? It's corsets. She wears corsets in most of her movies and almost all the time in The Borgia, and they accentuate the feminine areas of your body.
