It's such a bizarre contrast

On TVD she comes off like a really committed, classically trained actress. I think she's really talented on it, especially in the first season when her character was an actual 3-dimensional characters and not a plot device. She can sob loudly like when Grams died or have big tears silently like in Bonnie's conversation with Abby about Grams. And I remember the episode in the first season when she was possessed by Emily; that was very good differentiation of characters. And in that episode she had this one scene where she just shrugged and it was just a really good shrug! Kat really plays out a lot of emotions on that expressive face of hers. I think Nina Dobrev is better, but Kat holds her own.

But then in her music she seems to be going for a Lady Gaga or Nicki Minaj type thing with wild clothes and crazy dancing. I don't know if she's a good singer or not, but her music seems a little trashy...I wish she was going for a more quiet, critically acclaimed, personal music career like Milla Jovovich did with that beautiful cultural/literary inspired record of hers. Or I just wish Kat would focus on the acting. She's a good actress!
