He's old school liberal which is moderate? Or is moderate now center right? Anyway he doens't like Trump so stop saying he's some Trump supporter. He just hates fake woke, cancel culture, PC crap, like most comedians of the old be it for example Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr, or Bill Maher to some extent (has conservatives on and such).
These days anyone who doesn't blindly gulp down the absurdities of the loony Left is considered Conservative and, of course, an enemy of LIEberal fascism.

or will you all be pointing at the leftys or the rightys saying "its all their fault *they* endorse that sort of thing"
That is the typical American left/right response. Epstein was friends with both Bill Clinton and Donald Trump who in turn were friends with each other. Many Americans will ignore the inclusion of one of these presidents in order to say "Their side is bad and my side is good". It's pathetic.

I didnt see anything political in Ricky speach that would put him as an extremist of either of those sides.
The Left is so extreme & tribal these days that anything remotely right of radical Left -- including Gervais -- is considered their "enemy," meaning non-Liberal and therefore somewhat "conservative."
Who did Ricky denounce with his "jokes" (which -- we all know -- was an amusing excuse to speak the awful truth to people who desperately needed it)? Hollywood elites. Hollywood is predominantly Left and votes/supports Democrat. One of Ricky's jokes concerned Jeffrey Epstein obviously not killing himself. Who did Epstein support? By and large, Dems & their cronies. Proof: Since 1990 Epstein donated $147,426 to various Democrats compared to only $18,250 to Republicans https://www.businessinsider.com/jeffrey-epstein-politicians-connections-donations-2019-7. Who supported Epstein and kept his dubious doings mum? Dems & their sycophants.
So, by denouncing the hypocritical Hollywood establishment he was, in turn, condemning the so-called governing authorities they advocate, the Dems. In other words, to say that Ricky's denunciations had nothing to do with politics is silly (regardless of what he claims otherwise).
Epsteins sex abuse, for example. Can we *all* agree that was a "bad thing"
Naturally but, generally speaking, Lefties only say its a bad thing publicly while in private they either partake of the perverse pleasures of the flesh thereof or, at least, give a pass to other Libs regardless of the outrageous evil they practice. Harvey Weinstein is Exhibit A. Only when one of their own's sins are made public do they condemn it.
What is the problem with the Western world today? Certainly not Conservativism, i.e. anything traditionally moral. The glaring problem is Leftwing fascism and the corresponding LIEberal supremacy. Only the willfully blind would deny this.

lol what a delusional mindest. that's like saying any conservative who doesn't like trump is automatically a democrat libtard snowflake, even if they voted for another republican like jeb bush or ted cruz.
It doesn't come down to "liking Trump" or not liking him -- or any other candidate. It comes down to what agenda the candidate supports. So whether or not you "like" a candidate's personality is irrelevant; it's the all-around platform that matters.
In the USA there are only two viable presidential options for every such election. In other words, only one of these two people has a chance of being president (if you vote for a third party candidate you’re basically throwing away your vote and, worse, helping the Leftwing fascists gain power).
So citizens have a choice to pick (1) a pro-American candidate that presumably supports Judeo-Christian morality and wise, common sense policies or (2) the anti-American Democrat candidate that supports loony Liberal policies, like the absurd Green New Deal, allowing mentally ill men to legally use the women’s restroom, Big Government with perpetual useless bureaucrats, the corresponding high taxes, anti-small business measures, unbalanced trade agreements, overregulation, pro-sexual deviance policies, killing babies, pro-Marxist strategies (Socialism/Communism), etc., etc.
I advocate Trump because he's SUPPORTS Judeo-Christian morality and wise common sense policies, not to mention he's thoroughly pro-American. His actions as president from 2017-2021 have borne this out. But I never claimed he was a perfect moral specimen, nor do other supporters. All people are flawed, even the best of us.
yikes, so you're pretty much admitting that you (and other conservatives like you) will blindly vote for literally anyone fronting the republican candidacy, no matter who it is. it could be a block of swiss cheese, but as long as he's a republican, he's got your vote. thanks for confirming something most of us have known for years.
Evidently you lack reading-comprehension because I don't support RINOs whatsoever, like Romney. I could care less what tag a politician functions under, but rather go by the policies/agenda they support and execute. Since Trump was pro-American, pro-common sense, I supported him. Yes, he dished out "mean tweets" (rolling my eyes), but his policies kicked axx. For instance, in 2020 gas was $1.87 a gallon, now it's close to $6.00, give or take.
Obama brought gas down to $1.09 in Oklahoma, with a national average of $1.68, in 2015. So you support Obama on that ground too?
Also, Trump's gas was so low because the economy was the worst it had been since the great depression. I figured it was common sense at this point but the president has little to no control over gas, whether it be Obama, Trump, Biden, etc. If you wanted to biased, be biased about something president actually does himself.
I'd say he was a classic liberal, now he doesn't know where to go. As most classic liberals that don't like wokeness, but don't want to be associated with the right, nowadays he defines himself through what he's against (which is a bit of everything).
I used to be a Democrat, but I was always fairly middle of the road. As an adult, I lean right.
I don't know in which direction Gervais leans politically, but even if he's liberal, I will consider anything he has to say in the future because of his public bashing of Hollywood and PC wokeness. He's got a bit of capital with me now, and I'm willing to listen. No guarantee I'll agree with him but I'm willing to strongly consider anything he has to say.
When your dreams falter you want to draw people down with you. The trick out is to let go and live the moment. Help others and live to serve others. It's the only way to feel real fulfilment.
Do yourself a favor and don't listen to anyone celebrity for anything associated with politics, the environment or really for anything beyond how to act, because in the end celebrities really know nothing about anything beyond acting... but unfortunately some of them are proficient at acting like they know what they are talking about when the really have no clue.
It is always better to simply research things on your own, and never by simply using websites like wikipedia or any news site. Best to find actual books that detail both sides of a debate and then decide on your own. You may very well be on the wrong side in the end, but at least you will have tried to understand the issue which is already lightyears ahead of what the typical celebrity will have done.
While many prominent Republicans were quick to praise Gervais for his routine, others criticized Gervais for what a Vanity Fair writer labeled a "right-wing" performance.
"Ricky Gervais isn't a right-winger," Gutfeld responded. "He's a strong outspoken liberal ... he doesn't like Trump, but the thing is, this isn't about right or left. This is about freedom expression and what should be uniting conservatives and liberals ... is the rift that is going on among liberalisms, between free expression and those who want to silence people.
"That's where he's coming from," Gutfeld continued. "He is expressing his own personal outrage over the cancel culture ..."
Of course he isn't and neither is Louis C.K. who was also a victim of the dreaded 'right wing comedian' accusation after making fun of some social justice teenagers. Gervais is left-wing but he's also a comedian who realises that his brand of comedy isn't the usual political grandstanding we've come to expect nowadays. If anything Gervais has stayed true to himself, his humour hasn't changed (see his stand-up, Animals from 2003) it's everyone else who's changed but play the blame game on those who aren't complying with this new set of rules which silently came into affect around 2013.
This is why labels are bad, especially terms we're hearing these days like 'far-left' and 'far-right' which do have a meaning but are now being applied to just about anything the speaker disagrees with, people weaponize political terms to silence others and prevent them from being heard.
