OT Golden Globes
Our man wasn't there.
BUT: If you bothered to watch, what did you think of the winners???
I wasn't blown away by La La Land. I guess I missed something. Liked it. Didn't love it.

I only bother to watch them when Chris is presenting or nominated, like I watched till they announced his category at the Critics Choice Award and then turn it off.
these things are long, boring, predictable, always wins the movie with the biggest campaign behind, cringy inducing acceptance speeches.
I'm glad Viola Davis won her award and Maryl Streep said a great speech.
slim pickings this year in a lot of categories. i like ryan reynolds and find him an amusing enough performer... but seriously, best actor in a comedy?
shareI must admit to having limited interest unless Chris is presenting. I've read good things about LA LA Land and look forward to seeing it.
I presume but don't know for sure that agents maybe push for their clients to present in these events if they have a movie coming out. I'm guessing that's why Chris isn't presenting. I think it's probably quite nerve wracking so if you don't really have to do it you wouldn't.

Gifted is out in a couple of months - maybe it's too early for any promos?
People's Choice is the next one on the 18th - Chris was nominated so I presume he'll show up - does anyone know for sure?
Gifted is a movie by Fox Searchlight, it's small budget independent film, though there is a release date, it will probably be limited release and then opening for more markets if it grows. The press for promotion will be small, probably a couple of days for press junket in which most media will be asking Chris about Avengers:IW and some small questions about the film, etc. People tend to believe to think there is a big PR machine behind Gifted but no!.
Chris went last year to the GG because he had Marvel's CW (owned by Disney), just like this year they had presenting Hemsworth because of Thor3 and Pratt had a participation in a sketch because of GoTG.
People's Choice: if Chris wins, he will be told to go pick up his award if not, I doubt he will go, at that award show they only make sure the winners be present, so who knows.
IDK about the Oscars, since Avengers came out, he was invited as a presenter every year, there, no matter if he had a movie coming out, but who knows, I think for award shows, there is always a priority to have as presenters those that in studio's big movies.
At least Reynolds was actually in a Comedy and lost to someone who was in a Musical. Usually the Drama ringer wins it.
Even Damon joked that his presenting a Best Comedic/Musical award as last year's winner was funnier than any thing he did in The Martian.
