My problem with Thomas Sowell's culture hypothesis
I respect Thomas Sowell and agree with him on a lot of issues, and I have to admit I haven't read most of his work, but correct me if I'm wrong Sowell links the modern urban Black youth cultures with White Southern redneck cultures and appears to blame modern African American urban problems with culture derived from US South which came from Scotland. These are not the same cultures. In fact, these two cultures are very different to the point you could say are the opposites of each other. It really doesn't make sense to blame gangsta rap and sagging pants on White redneck culture or on Scotland.
