Matthew McConaughey is going the win the Oscar! :(

Chiwetel Ejiofor award season I'm afraid has come to a end (for him)! - He's 0-3 this award season.

Despite having a terrific performance, Chiwetel Ejiofor isn't very well known in Hollywood. Which's apparently part of winning a major award(s), than just the performance.

Chiwetel Ejiofor has lost the Golden Globe, the Critics' Choice Award and (now) the SAG Award to Matthew McConaughey!

The writing is on the wall (now) that Matthew McConaughey is going the win the Oscar. Hollywood is clearly behind him.

Chiwetel Ejiofor still might win the BAFTA, because Matthew McConaughey isn't nominated and it's in his home country.

I though he still had a chance to win the SAG Award, but after losing that to Matthew McConaughey (again), I'm sadly to say Chiwetel Ejiofor isn't going the Oscar!

I'm afraid I have to agree. I had hoped he would win something, but it seems that it's not in the cards. Sad , for how many roles produce an opportunity to get nominated for an Oscar

Show one and All a Stoney Heart and Sink them with It.

just relax he's already winning the BAFTA

Looks like it. Haven't seen Dallas Buyer's Club yet so can't comment on the performances, but McConaughey has many advantages over Ejiofor and at this point, even if Ejiofor wins the BAFTA (quite likely) then it would be one hell of an upset if McConaughey loses.

I haven't given up on Chiwetel yet. The Oscars are well known for upsets. Remember Adrian Brody? He'd won nothing the year he was nominated. Nada. Nothing. Until he got to the Oscars, and from what I remember I believe Jack Nicholson was the favorite to win that night.

In any case, can't wait to see how it turns out.

Hollywood does love a good holocaust story. Since many of them are Jewsih it hits home. But the Pianist lost best picture to f**cking Chicago that year so idk.

reply

Yeah the odds aren't in his favor at this point, but bigger surprises have definitely happened before so we'll see.

He was fantastic in this movie, no doubt. But i don't think he deserves an oscar when compared to the other nominees this year. Same for lupita. IMHO of course.

MM showed great commitment to his role. Unlike 12 Years a Fat Slave who couldn't lose even a bit of weight once Solomon was put to work. Chiwetel winning over MM or Leo would be a travesty. he didn't do anything that was particulary difficult. His character was too passive and boring. His fans should be happy that he made it into nominations over superior Hanks, Phoenix and Isaacs.
