Can't wait for this

Joel has wrapped filming on the first feature-length film he is directing. If all goes as planned the film will be released in the US on 31 July, 2015.

Tentatively entitled “Weirdo” (this may change), the film is a psychological thriller which follows a former jock named Simon (Jason Bateman), whose past comes back to terrorise him in the form of Gordo, an awkward, overtly friendly high school classmate with suspicious motives (Joel Edgerton). Simon is a confident newlywed with a seemingly perfect life who doesn’t realise that Gordo bears a terrible grudge against him for bullying him as a youth. Rebecca Hallappears as Simon’s wife Robyn, who holds a soft spot for Gordo.

Joel wrote the script for the film and says that it’s “fairly similar to ‘Felony’ in genre and tone….At the moment, I’m obsessed with this idea of bullying. I’m very fascinated by the idea of: At what point do you start taking responsibility for the things that you do? At what age are you an adult? How do you take responsibility for those things that you do? Sometimes it can affect the course of a person’s entire life.”
