Worst Australian accent ever?

I thought his Aussie accent in 'Pacific Rim' was the worst I've heard (even more than Tarantino's in 'Django Unchained').

Any from Australia like to give their opinion on the accuracy of Mr Martini's accent?

Who cares he looked the part, acted well, and was dedicated enough to actually spend lots of time to bond with the actor playing his son, Chuck. Max Martini is a top class actor and was great for the part!

Yeah mate, it was sh*thouse (=pretty bad).

Most American actors have real trouble with Australian accents and end up sounding like cockneys with a cold. Even Meryl Streep couldn't get it right.

Don't know why they couldn't use a pair of actual Aussie actors. God knows Hollywood is overflowing with them at the moment.

Not by a long shot. He was certainly a lot better than the actor who played his character's son in Pacific Rim. It was kind of goofy and broad but at least it could be identified as what it was meant to be- the worst attempts at Australian accents I've heard in movies and television have frequently only been identifiable from context rather than what the accent actually sounded like. And Tarantino's accent in Django Unchained was a lot lot worse.

I thought it was fine. It was on the broad side but there really are Australians sounding like that (No 1 case in point, Steve Irwin).

I think some of us are often effectively saying anyone we know to be a foreigner are always doing a terrible Australian accent. I just wonder how much of that is preconceived bias. I don't remember anyone here* catching out Trevor Goddard, who even pretended to be Australian in real life as well as on screen and we did see a lot of him on JAG on TV, not just the movies.

*by here, I meant Australia as a whole, not just imdb.

sorry max but i'm an australian and i found it hard to understand your lines - thats a fail on the accent.

I agree with you. I didn't know who the actors were and assumed they were Australian as soon as they opened their mouths.

I've lived there fro 10 years before returning to New Zealand. I thought they sounded like they came from Queensland.
