How come she isn't a bigger star yet?
I absolutely love Portia.
Youth in Revolt was a good movie, and she played the role she had really well, as sort of that unattainable, fantasy girl that a teenage boy would chase after and risk everything for. She made it look effortless.
And she was the best actor in Carrie. Chloe Grace Moretz was okay as Carrie and she did the best she could, but let's face it- she wasn't the right person for the role. Julianne Moore was good as Carrie's mother, but sometimes she was a little too over the top that it was kind of comical. Gabrielle Wilde can't act. But Portia Doubleday as Chris? She nailed it. She portrayed the insecure mean girl that you just HATE really well. She made Chris a layered character too. You know there was way more to her than meets the eye, and there was a lot of misery there.
Unfortunately, Portia doesn't seem to be getting a ton of roles. Youth in Revolt, Carrie, Her, and the Big Mommas sequels have been her biggest movies. I think she has so much potential. She needs more roles.
She would be great on American Horror Story.
She should also try and get a franchise. That's what Jennifer Lawrence did with The Hunger Games and X-Men, and Shailene Woodley with Divergent, and now they're huge stars.
