Winter Passing -- Is it one of Zooey's best films?

Even Zooey's fans don't seem familiar with Winter Passing (Zooey Deschanel, Ed Harris, Will Ferrell, and Amelia Warner).

I thought it was a really beautiful film. Zooey is usually so perky and cute and quirky, that I really enjoyed seeing her play a character who was so sad, depressive, unhappy, and anti-social. It's a very rewarding depiction of some barriers between people coming down.

Am I the only one who likes this one?

I hadn't actually thought about it, but it's my favorite Zooey movie also. I'm pretty sure it's the only one I own.

Zooey has certainly been in many films that I liked, but not too many that I LOVED.

Here's a bunch of Zooey movies that I've seen: Giant, 500 Days of Summer, Hitchhiker's, Big Trouble, Mumford, The Good Girl, Almost Famous, All the Real Girls, Elf, Yes Man, The Happening, Tin Man, Bridge to Terabithia, The Go-Getter, Abandon.

I didn't realize I had seen that many -- maybe because she has small supporting roles in some of them. The only one there that I like as much as Winter Passing is Almost Famous. The only one that I feel is not really worth seeing is the Happening.

The film is okay, I liked it enough. I loved Zooey's work there, one of her best performances in my opinion. Very convincing portrayal of a depressed young lady and I liked the balance of humor and drama. I'd suggest you to check "Manic" (2001) as well as you didn't mention it among the films you had seen with her. It's not similar to "Winter Passing" as it's much more depressive film without any comedy involved but I've enjoyed the film and her performance is great there as well.

How can you be a fan and not be familiar with Winter Passing? I'm not really a fan, but I'm familiar with this movie - it's the only time she actually tried playing someone different from herself.
