I certainly wasn't expecting any of them to die so soon! π±

Yeah, very shitty news. He was great, the band could have continued for years.
Now I don't know. Maybe shake it up and get Wilder or Vince Clarke back?
And Fletch was the one with the highest outlook, I would say.
I mean, out of the three, I would have not picked him as the most likely to die.
Alan coming back would be the greatest thing ever.
And yes, I think Andy was the cleanest of all of them (in terms of drugs or alcohol). I definitely wasn't expecting him to be the first one to die either.
Well, maybe they can spin this around into a good thing.
The last couple of albums were a bit below average.
Maybe a change in the lineup, even a tragic one, would be welcome.
The last couple of albums were a bit below average.Oh, I beg to differ. I think Delta Machine and Spirit, and especially Memento Mori, are the strongest albums they've done since Alan's been gone. Plus, I have a suspicion that Alan has evolved in *his* journey(though I haven't been following what he has been doing the last fifteen years or so) such that his musical sensibilities would probably no longer be a good fit for DM.
Neither Wilder or Clarke would want to come back and be a "yes man", which is exactly what Fletch was.
shareNo, no need for a yes man.
I don't think Fletch was ever one, either. He was more in tune with the lineup and went along fine with everybody.
If either Wilder or Clarke, or both, want to return, they could do so with no need to bend their vision.
Actually, they should both be welcomed exactly because of their distinguished input.
RIP
in honor of the greatest band ever.

RIP Fletch, I still can't believe he is no longer with us, I never expected this to happen, he wasn't nearly as bad off with drugs or alcohol like Dave and Martin was respectively.
shareI liked a few of their songs back in the day, especially "People are People", a very relevant song today as well!
