What is her character about in the film: HIGH TENSION?

Does anybody know what her character plays, or is about in High Tension?
If so, let me know.
Please, thank you.

spoiler ahead...do not read if you don't want to know the thrill of the film until you see it yourself. If you want to find out, read ahead.

Marie is just a very hopeful CLOSE friend to Alex. She is a bit over-the-edge and stalker-like when it comes to being friends with people as it seems. She wants to be too close for comfort. In doing so, she goes estatic and hurts/kills anyone trying to "take away Alex from her" or derive a closer relationship to like: Alex's mother, father, brother and even the family dog, Hendrix (Poor fella). In Marie's mind, she was someone with whom she detested from the very beginnning, a man. You see, in her mind she saw men as being dirty, ugly, and disgusting and so that is what she spanned out in the film as to dish out the violence she stored in her for so long. She hated men because they were the ones that "stole" Alex away from her. The only possible solution for the bad side of Marie's psyche is to steal her back and have the relationship that she/bad side (he)always wanted. The only thing was is that the good side of Marie is more so the "knight is shining armor" and like a friend should be. Alex has split personalities which seem to get in the way of her emotions but in the end, the bad side of Marie/the stronger male personality, seems to have taken over completely and still thrives for Alex. The poor girl just needed to be put on some meds and that probably would've solved everything. All of that pent-up sexual TENSION towards her friend, Alex just seemed to burst out into violence and was the cause of Marie's destruction.

I hope that took care of the question you had. I tried my best at putting the film into what I think possibly the character Cecile de France portrayed in the movie, High Tension. Great film!

Mr. Hollywood...you have to see for yourself. She is trying to save her friend from a serial killer. I won't say more b/c I'd give away too much. Just watch it for yourself.

I think Dork already did say too much. It's a very good film and needs to be watched.

Goredork666:

I got the impression that she didn't know Alex in the least bit -- Alex was just one of many women that Marie ran across during her killing spree (Remember the woman's head that drops out of her van in the beginning? And all the women's pictures plastered on the dash?). What we see in the movie is essentially Marie's deluded flashback, not actual events. She conjured up her friendship and backstory with Alex out of thin air the way she conjured up "the killer." It's all in her head, as it's always been: To steal a term from comic book lingo, Marie "retconned" the events of the movie to include a previously existing friendship with Alex.

Alex never knew her in the least, I don't think.

Thanks. That clears up somethings that I questioned when looking back.
