Sadly Underrated

I just saw Prisoners yesterday. He is absolutely fantastic as Alex Jones. I had never heard of him before looking him up after Prisoners. I've heard that he is good in other movies too, but I haven't seen any of them. It's frusterating that he is relatively less known than a lot of actors, but there are some awful actors out there that get all of the attention. I hope he gets the oscar for Prisoners.
And on a side note, who cares what he looks like? In the grand sceme of things, it doesn't really matter. Besides, he is a great actor that doesn't need random people focusing on anything other than his acting ability.

Absolutely! Paul Dano is my fav actor due the fact that when he acts I actually FEEL something. I do get tired of seeing him get the crap beat out of...12 years a slave, there will be blood, and of course...Prisoners. People who base his value as an actor on his looks do not matter. They are simple and we must treat them as such.

I first saw him in Taking Lives with Angelina Jolie and Ethan Hawke. Paul is superb, talented and gifted. I hope he continues to be true to his profession and enjoy a long career in a business known for disposable talent.

With what he's been in he won't be underrated for much longer.

I think he needs to get more starring roles. Fabulous, Fabulous actor. I think if he starred in the right movie with the right Director, he could win an oscar.

reply

Exactly. He just needs the right role and I think he will rocket into stardom.

Personal opinion - I think he tends to overact a bit. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a great actor, but some of his performances come a cross a little hammy, and sometimes cringeworthy. He's still pretty young though, so there's still so much time for him to hone his craft, I think he'll start really shining in the next 5 years or so.

I agree. I think he's great, and his "over-the-top" acting style works great for the films that he is in, but it comes across as unnatural to me.
