How to pronounce name?

I've always wondered, is his name pronounced Dan-o or Dane-o?

I'm pretty sure it's Dane-O.

It's an Italian name, so maybe it's not a question of "how to pronounce the name", but rather "How does HE pronounce it". I am pretty sure it's "Dane-o".
But the correct Italian pronounciation is "Dan-o". And it's "o" like in "dog", no "o" like in "cold". (In other words, the sound is not a dipthong or gliding vowel).

I just stumbled across an interview where he refers to himself and says "Dane-o" when he pronounces his own last name.

Sorry, I don't know how to post the interview here. It was an interview for his film Fast Food Nation.
