I see where you're coming from, however Paul is nearly twice the age Brendan was when he was first interrogated and by the time it would be worth making a film about story of Making a Murderer, bearing in mind the story isn't over yet, Paul would probably be another 5+ years older.
In summary, he's too old to play the role IMO
There's definitely a resemblance but as someone already stated Paul Dano is in his 30's and too old.
shareA bit of make-up for Paul Dano should do the trick. Even as an older Brendan.
