Typecast

While the majority of the films he chooses are indeed of a high quality, he tends to always play the role of the weak, unlikable, greedy, backstabbing fool. Granted, he plays that role very well, but he has typecast himself something awful. He needs to start choosing his roles little wiser, or that will the only kind of role he'll be playing for the rest of his career.

He's been playing likable in the last couple of years - and different kinds of likable, too. The Brian Wilson role, the lead in "War and Peace" and the comedy with Radcliffe, all to glowing reviews. And "weak and unlikable" was a big switch in itself - prior to that, people were complaining that he was playing the same sensitive Emo youth over and over. I think he chooses astutely and knows exactly what he's doing. He'll be fine.
