I swear I've never read an opinion on Dano that amounted to "he's all right". It's always "worst actor in Hollywood" vs "absolutely brilliant", "his character was a dead bore" vs "an incredibly nuanced performance", and, of course, "I wanna punch his fugly face" vs "omg, he's soooo hot!". Any ideas why people are so divided on this particular actor? And is there anyone else working in film today, male or female, that provokes this sort of extreme reactions?
shareYeah I was super surprised to find people's reactions! I'd only seen him in a couple things and actually WAS in that camp of "he's all right." I was so surprised by War and Peace I thought he was brilliant. So that's just me. i'm not sure why people are so divided! i find it a little weird lol, he's not such an unusual man i think to cause this divide
shareWell, I suppose people who think an actor is just all right don't often bother discussing him in the first place. Still, there must be something really different about his acting style to cause this chasm between "brilliant" and "the worst".
