Not actually old enough to be a real doctor
He'd have to be at least, what?, 26. Unless he's doogie howser, i guess.

shareYeah, I hate being all nit-picky like that, but agreed. And I believe a few episodes back they actually said his age was like, 23 - but didn't happen to mention that it would be pretty much impossible to be a Psych, much less, for the FBI.
Regardless, he's a little cutie.
It stated he had graduated early. That was the running joke for e a few episodes, and Booth's teasing him because he's so young. Basically he's the Doogie Howser of Psychology. Same as Brennan was a top archeologist at 29 the first season

Ever notice that most of the "staff" are highly intelligent and over achievers. They tend to graduate at an early age and often with multiple degrees and areas of expertise. They are all flawed or dysfunctional in one way or another. It's what binds them together as more of a family than a collaborative work group. Their eccentricities form a collage of dysfunction that is highly functional. That's why grad students who are normal have extreme difficulty fitting in to the group dynamics. They are simply not dysfunctional enough to understand the functional fabric of the group. (hey, there's a wonderful line for Sweets!)
I was just thinking the same thing! He is 22 in real life right? So yeah a little young to be a real doc but people don't always play their real age in shows/movies. So maybe he is supposed to be older, he does look a little older than 22.
shareIt is mentioned in an episode in season three that he had just turned 23. So yes, he's far younger than your average psychiatrist, but that doesn't make it impossible. It just make him very smart...and a good student! There is no age requirement for receiving a doctorate. I would imagine there probably is one for practicing medicine, perhaps 18, but that would still make it possible for Dr. Sweets.
I'd think that it wouldn't really matter to the FBI his age so much as his qualifications. He's supposed to be a brilliant profiler.
Like someone else mentioned above, Dr. Brennan's character has two doctorates and she was 29 or 30 when the show began.
He IS the Doogie Houser of Psychology.
shareHe actually just turned 24 this past Monday. I only know because I'm the same birth year and you don't see that too often these days - a lot of stars are usually either older than 25 or younger than 20. He is adorable tho.
shareNot if you're a genius, they're 20 and 21 year old Doctors.
