What exactly is the cutoff line between being "young" and "old"
generally speaking... young is 30's and younger. i doubt anyone would say otherwise when looking at a typical lifespan like i basically post below.
i see age like this...
20's and younger = spring chicken young
30's = young
40's = middle-aged (not young or old)
50's = early stages of old
60's = pretty much old
70's = old
80's and higher = dinosaur ;)
p.s. ill be 35 myself later this year(i am a male). but what i said above i think is a pretty good guideline regardless of your own age because it's a pretty fair assessment given that also plays inline with when people die to since the chances of death from heart attack/stroke (pretty much natural death) is pretty slim in your 40's and younger and even into your 50's the odds are against it but the risk is a bit higher and then sort of scales up from there as in your 70's death could be around the corner since i figure the average age of death the last i knew was about 80 (like high 70's) and i figure once you crack 80+ you are on bonus time and i figure once you get into your 60's is when your chances of death (like heart attack/stroke etc) start to noticeably increase to where if you die from heart attack/stroke it won't be shocking or anything like it would be prior to that unless of course you happen to have a history of bad heart or something but most people should be able to easily get to 60+ before they got to worry about heart related trouble.
side note: i think it's kind of funny that the OP thinks guys actually consider a woman old from the 30+ age bracket. those who do are probably kids still. plus, your overall attractiveness cannot be carried by looks alone as anyone who thinks otherwise is probably still a kid (don't get me wrong, looks do play a factor as no one wants someone who don't look at least decent). for me personally... i think Vera Farmiga is THE most attractive actress out there and has been my clear #1 for a good 5+ years now (and i doubt that will change either into the foreseeable future) as i can honestly say i have never laid eyes on a more attractive actress than her and she's 40 years old now, going on 41 in August. but i would say as a general guideline that women in general are probably at their peak looks wise etc in their 40's and younger (but it can vary for some though as some get more attractive with age while others might peak at say 25 years old and then get worse in another decade or so etc) since i would say by the time they get into their 50's, especially mid-to-late 50's on up, it starts to become much harder to maintain a more youthful look from my perception. that should be a pretty good guideline in my opinion. so i don't think anyone could say your are legitimately old til AT LEAST 50+ MINIMUM and even then i would still not consider them truly old especially if they are barely into their 50's.
also, as a general guideline... i would say most people that date should stay within 6-7 years of their own age (at the most) as going much outside of this i can't see it lasting (especially those who are well over 10 year gaps). ill be 35 later this year myself i kind of see those who are early 20's and younger as kids mostly because from my perception of people in general they tend to act like teenagers until their late 20's (say roughly 28+). i have had this opinion since at least my late 20's. so if you are a person who is 25 or so i would definitely recommend dating older than someone younger especially since, like i said, there is going to generally be a fairly large maturity gap going from 20 years old to 30 years old which in my estimations will probably be the largest all around maturity gap in someones life span in a 10 year time frame.
