Why doesn't he have a Scottish accent?

He is half Scottish and seems to have spent more time in Scotland than anywhere else, so I was sort of taken aback when I heard his actual speaking voice for the first time. He sounds very English; why is that? Just wondering...

He can put on a very believable Scottish accent so perhaps he adjusts it for different roles. As an actor it's likely he spends a lot of time with English or American producers etc so maybe he's just picked it up from them. A lot of people unconsciously change their accent when around people with different ones

That makes sense. Thanks!
