A beginner's guide to Rory Culkin
He's so good, y'all. The first time I saw him was probably as a tagalong in films like The Good Son (baby picture) or Igby Goes Down (young Igby.) These were just a little taste of what was to come, but he was second fiddle to his brothers.
My life was forever changed in 2004 when I saw the film Mean Creek. Rory, at age 12 or so, totally holds this movie together. Everybody is wonderful in the film, and it's a great time capsule of early 2000s young acting talent. If you've never seen it, I highly recommend it. After watching this film, I knew he was the best actor of the Culkin clan, and he's never disappointed me since.
Lords of Chaos is a wonderful film from Jonas Åkerlund, director of 2002's Spun. This is an excellent biopic about infamous black metal band Mayhem. Whether you know the crazy true story or not, this is definitely worth a watch. Rory is very good, and again I feel like he is the glue that holds it together.
Gabriel is a little known indie in which I believe Rory gives his finest performance. He's makes you believe in the whole internal life of the character. It's a compelling film.

I was a little surprised to see no one had posted, and I'm honored to be the first. Rory seems to be the Culkin who takes acting the most seriously. He's been making good choices, not always the biggest movies that everyone sees, but quality work nonetheless. I love this guy.
