I hope I can answer Brenda Grey's question about Johnny Crawford's current activities. He is a frequent guest at Western film festivals in the South where he sells his own photographs. I recall him saying that he was interested in the old type of music from the Twenties and Thirties. Apparently he has a band. Also, he told stories about getting to know the old time cowboy stars who would do guest shots on the Riflemen. Names escape me now, but they had been minor stars in the Twenties and later, in the sound period, would do character roles in westerns. Paul Fix (Micah) is the father-in-law of Harry Carey Jr., son of the veteran actor and character actor in John Wayne's westerns. He goes by the name Dobie. Mr. Fix supposedly was the one who showed John Wayne how to walk in that familiar style, pointing his toes inward. Check the Internet for Johnny Crawford's website, as I am sure that he has one.

Check out his MySpace site at:

or the band website at:

His current band, Johnny Crawford's Vintage Dance Band, does in fact do Big Band dance music from the 1920's and 1930's. As someone who has seen him perform live, I can tell you that he and his band put on an excellent show! Unfortunately, based on past performance dates listed on his MySpace site, he doesn't seem to stray too far from the LA area for his shows.

Johnny has a wall on Facebook. He has had engagements across the United States, although his next one with his orchestra, March 14, 2014, is here in Los Angeles, CA. at the Cicada Club. Check with his band website for other engagements. I heard him sing a song and saw him do a few rope tricks a few years ago at a coffeehouse in the Los Angeles area. He was there with his wife. Great to see him. Johnny hasn't changed much - just gray hair and wrinkles, but still adorable.
