He has to get rid of the interviewing 3 poeple at once format...

It's distracting.... he asks one guest one question, then jumps to the next and there is no momentum... plus, when you only want to see one of the guests, it's just very annoying. I don't know why he came up with this. He's had some good guests, but I don't want to see them all sitting on the couch waiting their turn.

He got the format from The Graham Norton show of having everyone out at the same time...

Graham is in a different league though, very seasoned. That control takes time.

Graham honed his craft through live stand up, got a late night show on Channel 4, moved to the BBC where he got decent guests but Jonathan Ross had the main show and then when Ross went to ITV he took his slot.

Corden needs to build up.

reply

Agreed. Corden needs time to shape and polish the format to best suit his skills and those of his guests. I like the three guest format and the guests don't have to be someone you know for it to work. I like Corden and think the show has a lot of potential. The band is great, the theme is catchy, the precanned pieces are good and Corden seems to be enjoying himself. This weeks episodes are the weakest so far. They have been laying a little flat and everyone seems tired.

I hope the show is given room to develop and grow because despite some bumps and growing pains, it is so much better than much of the usual garbage in late night.

He needs to keep it. Adds a lot of spontaneity to the interviews which is a breath of fresh air. Its much more interesting seeing how they behave with each other than hearing the same few anecdotes and pre planned marketing taglines in every single interview.

Agree with that guy before though, Graham Norton is the master. Best chat show on tv.

It also looks like he liquors people up. Hell, it also looks like he liquors himself up.

They do it with multiple guests on The Graham Norton Show in the UK...and they all drink!
