Underrated Songwriter
Nick Cave is right up there with the greats. He should be talked about as much as Bob Dylan and John Lennon. He's poetic, but he's also insightful, and (most rare) funny. So few people write truly funny songs, but Nick Cave does.
For me, there's Nick Cave, there's Tom Waits, and there's Warren Zevon, and those three are some of the best, funniest, most powerful, gripping storytellers in songwriting history, and all of them deserve way more credit and recognition. Tom is probably the most known, but all anybody knows of Zevon is Werewolves of London, and that's one of DOZENS of brilliant numbers.
