I just heard the tapes on Youtube. It was after a 1974 tour I beleve. The tapes are really interesting although I was never a diehard fan of his, but enjoyed the show. David speaks candidly about the joys and pains of touring, his image, relationship with Meredith B Birney, drugs, and his grandpa.

shareSadly, in some ways it was a case of apple and tree. Look at Liza Minelli, Tatum O Neal, Bobbi Christina, etc. I think he would have fared better embracing his "Keith" persona, versus spending a lifetime resenting his PF legacy. To be honest, what else is he known for? Sitcom stars now and then fall victim to typecasting. Maybe he should have ventured into production like his brother Shaun. Perhaps it would have benefited him to leave entertainment and do something else. I know he also bred race horses.
