He did nothing wrong.

He asked the women for permission to masturbate in front of them and they didn't say no, so what's the problem? Comparing that to actual sexual harassment and rape is an insult to those who are real victims of such things.

I agree in general, however...

as I recall there was an incident where he worked on a television show and did it in front of a subordinate in his office. He also called a woman on the phone and was apparently jerking without her permission (which is analogous to flashing).

In his latest special he talks about on-going consent, which is probably right, but he doesn't mention the above two incidents.

it's an abuse of power, also jerking off in front of your coworkers is literal sexual harassment, so....

UNLESS YOURE A SEX WORKER...THEN ITS JUST A TUESDAY.🤔

He did something wrong

Yup. At the bare minimum, Louis C.K. was a married man cheating on his wife. That's the minimum, assuming all parties were 100% in clear agreement to proceed with sexual liaisons. They say not, and while the stories sound like Louis could reasonably have thought that they did consent, it also sounds like it happened kinda fast.

I don't think Louis should be "cancelled" (I hate cancel culture), and I don't think the reaction was proportionate to his actions, but he wasn't behaving in a perfectly innocent and justifiable moral manner.

I could not agree with you more - to say he nothing wrong was just downplaying what he did

reply

Yeah, there's a middle ground here. Like, to say this guy was a Weinstein-level jackass who was a horrible criminal is exaggeration, but to say he did nothing is not true, either.

I think it's good that he apologized, but he shouldn't have been blacklisted from movies and specials.

Maybe the best way forward would have/could be for Louis C.K. to produce/fund specials for the comics he jacked off in front of. He fronts the money, donates what he makes back to charities, and obviously doesn't make himself "in control" of the special (i.e., the comics aren't answerable to Louis), and give their careers a boost and a little moment. He slowed them down? Okay, well, now he could speed them up.

Whatever happened, it was pretty low-level on the spectrum of sexual misdeeds, and he's been punished enough. The point has been made, he's suffered some career and personal damage, so let's move on. He doesn't deserve to have his life ruined.

Some claimed Weinstein did this in front of women. TBH i can't feel bad since they waited this long to speak

reply

They waited until their careers cooled.

reply

Louis explained pretty well why what he did was wrong.
