First, I agree with you about that film not being touched--ever. However, I feel that way about many iconic films. However, why would he be great as Forrest Gump? Because he has a southern accent? Southern accent does not equal slow. There are so many highly intelligent people with Southern accents it would boggle minds. Then again, Tom Hanks is a highly intelligent man and played Forrest so maybe you're saying in order to play a slow person, you have to have high intelligence. If so, maybe you're right.
