It took 6 years of living without internet, a cell phone, air conditioning, eating at restaurants, drinking, and a car... but paid off my student loan debt with a job that started at $8.50 per hour and ended at $11 per hour. It was $30k between 2004 and 2009.
It was not easy but it was worth the experience. Now, I have all those benefits. I don't know if that could be done today, but I'm sure someone could figure out a similar path with their debt.
Poor USA. In 2008 they had money to bail out wall street, now they are so poor...
