There are several countries in the world TODAY that still have an active slave trade. The USA is not one of them, and in fact, the USA fought a major war to end slavery.

America wasn't the first to practice slavery, but it was among the first to end it. Other countries today still practice slavery even after it was illegalized, you gonna comment on that?

As for people shooting each other, more people have died from driving, smoking, and drinking. Unless you wanna ban those too, you'd know better to focus less on the object and focus more on the person. You'll also find that there are many gun owners that obey the laws.
If guns were illegalized, that wouldn't decrease crimes. People would just find something else to use as a weapon, crimes tend to increase, and governments would be even more tyrannical towards their citizens.

It's absolutely true.

If you're using a knife, maybe more people can survive an attack. But what about a car? Or a home-made explosive? You can cause plenty of damage with those, and just recently a maniac ran over people during a Christmas parade in Waukesha. Stories of Muslims running over people in the UK have also been reported, along with increased crime rates in the UK and Australia, all despite having gun bans.
