If Tony really is dead...

...Then what's the point in Carlos Bernard saying that he "can't comment" on whether or not Tony's dead? What would be the point? Why doesn't he just say that Tony's dead?

To encourage hope and this sort of speculation?

Why not? He was on the show for five years and was always cryptic when discussing his fate. Add to that the fact that he's always joking and being cagey about things it's easy to imagine he just likes to keep the fans going round in circles looking for clues, even if there ARE none. It doesn't have to mean he's coming back, it might just be Carlos playing with us. He does that.

Yeah, it keeps people talking about him. Tony was his most famous character and so to keep people talking about that and speculating about whether he will come back, it creates more interest in his upcoming projects. I would love to see him come back to 24 but I seriously doubt it will happen. Probably for the best anyway considering the way the show is going lately... He went out on a high

I agree completely. He's better off out of it, now they're recycling plots so fast they're making themselves dizzy.

They're problem is that they keep trying to outdo themselves when I much prefered their chemical threat series when it was just confined to small areas than with their constant nuclear bomb threat...where do you go from there? They need to go back to their roots and make some slightly less extreme stories...

Yeh, sticking to what they did best in the first seasons, which were tightly woven plots with lots of twists and turns, as well as great characters and actors. Every season they try to be bigger and better with the threats and the explosions, and they don't need to. Just because a season has more bodies, more bombs and more danger it doesn't mean it's better than a season with fewer bangs but a first rate plot.
