Sacha Baron Cohen Calls Major Tech Platforms "the Greatest Propaganda Machine in History"

Was about to post that too. Two big problems.
His Borat character does everything he condemns. Hypocrite!
No mention of TDS, which was preceded by Bush and Reagan DS. Just as hateful.
He also said: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-50525884
"British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has said if Facebook had existed in the 1930s it would have allowed Hitler a platform for his anti-Semitic beliefs."
Antisemitism was widespread in Europe, like it is in the Arab world. It wasn't until 1939 Mein Kampf was published in full and everyone ignored it.
If the Interwebs existed in the 30s, it would be full of racism, sexism, and every "phobia", etc. Society was like that. SJWs would have been committed to Insane Asylums!
Sacha is a massive hypocrite douchenozzle. Jews are probably the most racist, self-inclusive group of people on the planet. Even the term 'anti-semitism' is racist, it implies Arabs aren't semites when they factually are.
shareThat's very true about him he's a big hypocrite from a very fundamentalist Jewish family he's just exploiting how show business works in the west and twists it to his advantage.
He barely criticizes the inhumanity and racism in his "homeland" and only likes to mock other nationalities, religions and race groups.
He’s right. We haven’t learned to tame them yet
shareHe would know. He is the king of propaganda. Not that I disagree with what he said, but a lot of the propaganda that you see on the internet was pioneered by him.
For example, years ago, YouTubers started a meme of "pranking" types of people (minorities, women, etc.) to get the type of reactions that were designed to perpetuate negative stereotypes. As it turned out, most of the pranks were staged or not what they seemed. This is the type of shtick that SBC pioneered with stuff like Borat, so I dunno...seems to be the pot calling the kettle black to me.
4chan (2003) predates YouTube trolling. SBC didn't start anything! Wikipedia:
4chan has often been the subject of media attention as a source of controversies, including the coordination of pranks, harassment, attacks against other websites and Internet users, and the posting of illegal content, threats of violence, misogyny and racism.
You should go to youtube and look up the village in Romania where Sasha filmed Borat being at home with his people. They had no idea he was calling them Khazakstanians until they saw the film and were eternally pissed. The visiting camera crew who went to interview them almost ended up not coming home. LOL
shareThat doesn't surprise me about Romania. As a New Yorker, I was pissed off by those scenes in Borat and I'm sure Southerners felt the same about their scenes. What he does is deliberately antagonize people or set things up in a way that puts their reactions out of context so that audiences are left thinking, "OMG, they're so evil/stupid/racist, etc."
And I will definitely look that village up in Romania on YouTube.
BTW, have you ever seen footage or video of the capital of Kazakhstan? It has cool space age/futuristic architecture!

I think Sasha's criticism of Social Media platforms falls short because he's in the business of parodying human behavior so if he really wanted to call out the dangers of Facebook he could have created a new character that mocks the new trend of "Influencers" who are now the new Rock/Movie Stars of today.
Him going public as himself and making a political statement is like seeing Hulk Hogan come out and preach Buddhism
