He's trying to be James L. Brooks and he's not

I don't care what Judd's next movie is as long as it doesn't star his wife and kids and isn't about rich, white people. People who call Judd a genius are crazy. He's good at finding talent, hut as a writer, he's weak. Most of his movies are improvised anyway, which is why they are never under two hours. I think he wants to be James L. Brooks. His movies are trying to be more adult and showing the truth of people. Blah, blah, blah. He's not good enough to make those kinds of movies, which is why Funny People and This is 40 underperformed. He's still making d*ck and f*rt joke movies, but he's losing his core fanbase. Younger people want to see 40 Year Old Virgin or Knocked Up, not Funny People and This is 40. If his next movie is about a single mom played by his wife, who has two kids, played by his kids, it's safe to say, it will be another flop. I'm not saying he needs to make teen, stoner movies, but make something people want to see. Just cause no one else is putting his wife in movies, take the hint. Don't ruin your career on this crap.

I pretty much concur with you on this issue. He needs to start switching up his formula and stop continuously attempting to convert his family into bigger stars because it's not exactly working.

Leslie Mann should NOT be any near Apatow projects again. She's not that talented, good looking, nor funny. You can do better, Judd.

Yeah he went too far with This Is 40. I was okay with using them in Knocked Up and even Funny People, but he lost me when he decided to make a spinoff movie with probably the least interesting characters from Knocked Up. With the exception of Paul Rudd he literally lost all the funniest actors/characters. There was no need for it unless he was simply trying to come up with the best way to use his family again

I don't know if they're pushing the issue with him or he just doesn't realize not everyone is going to love his wife/kids as much as he does, but hopefully he's gotten it out of his system.

Paul Rudd has never really interested me. I've pretty much always found him to be this boring average guy with mostly corny humor to offer. The Apatow girls should've only been in Knocked Up because that have been overused in future films ever since. With good writing, Paul Rudd and Jason Segel can be decent comic actors. I've noticed that many actors like Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Steve Carell, and others have strayed away from Apatow films for other projects and some reasons. Is it just me, or Seth Rogen and others really haven't appeared in an Apatow film in about 4 years? Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, and Apatow's family seem to be the only recurring actors in his films. Some of the departed actors will reappear in this year's Anchorman sequel, but that's about it for now. Apatow lost a lot of his magic, and Todd Phillips just took over I suppose.

I agree. He's doing the same thing over and over too much. The wife and kids thign doesn't even both me as much as the struggling rich person we're supposed to sympathize with.

Notice that almost EVERY FAMILY in most commercials and Hollywood movies have nice ass houses and are of middle class at least?
