A little overrated, isn't he......

I mean the highest score any of the Farelly brothers' movies got on IMDB was a mere 7,2. None of you guys can actually believe that Knocked Up or 40 Year Old Virgin were better and funnier movies than Theres Someting About Mary and Kingpin, or even Dumb and Dumber.

Apatow's movies are welcomed as some kind of revolutionary twist on the comedy genre, when it has been done much better in the past. Kingpin alone, has more succesfully gross-out comedic moments than all this guy's movies combined. The only explanation I have for his succes, is the hysterical fanboy enthusiasm brought by fans of the Apatow tv-series. Does anyone have a different explanation?

Dumb and Dumber is the funniest movie of all time.Laugh per minute ratio in that movie is amazing.And while not a very layered one,it does have a story.And ive seen a lot of movies and i get critized a lot for loving it so much but as much as i love smart,layered movies,this one is the funniest ive ever seen.

That being said I would put 40 Year Old Virgin against any other Farrely Brothers comedy.Knocked Up,in my opinion,is a little lower and not quite on the level of There's Something about Mary.Its probably a little better than Kingpin.

Some of his producing efforts are pretty damn good.Anchorman was fantastic.Superbad was pretty good,and Pineapple Express was just a genre-bending blast.

So overall body of work Apatow wins because The Farrely's are completly off the radar now.And after their first 3 efforts...they dropped off drastically.
I mean Dumb and Dumber is the most quoteable movie ever.Before you had "You Know How I Know Your Gay" you had this:

Harry:"Its Petey...Hes Dead"
Lloyd:"Oh Harry...Im So Sorry...What Happened"
Harry:"His Head Fell Off."
Lloyd:"His Head Fell Off?"
Harry:"Yeah...He Was Pretty Old"

Lloyd:"Thats It....Ive had it with this dump...we got no food...we got no jobs...are pets HEADS ARE FALLIN OFF!"

Im sorry Apatow...ain't hanging with Carrey and Daniels.Ever.
