While catching up on the Good Times series recently I noticed how I quickly lost interest after they killed off his character.
Nothing against the rest of the cast certainly, but Mr. Amos was a crucial link in the dynamic of the family portrayal.
Never the same without him.
RIP
I read somewhere that Amos was upset with the show because he wanted it to focus on more serious themes but the produces instead wanted to focus on the silliness of JJ, which was a hit with audiences. I wouldn't be surprised if this was why he left.
shareEsther Rolle had the same objection, but not the point that she left the show over it.
sharerest in peace
shareNo way! on sunday night i watched coming to america and wondered if he was still alive, and today he dies?
shareSo sad, another great one gone.

Liked John Amos. Did so many great things in the 70's. This commerical is awesome...

He died in August. I guess his family have personal reasons for waiting, before releasing it to the press. I respect that. May he RIP. Wow only the Good Times kids are left now.
I just saw him in a "Madea "movie a few days ao. He played a minister.
Yeah I heard about it. His daughter claims she didn't know about it. She's upset. But I don't get why she didn't at least call him weekly. Bet it's all a money issue with his kids. Shame....
