There are claims of rape that are being investigated. And not the trendy new age definition of rape where women have consensual sex and regret it the next morning, but the old school, pinned down against their will and forced kind of rape.
In the recording of the Italian model, she said he touched her breast and it was clearly not consensual. To which he replied "sorry, I'm used to it".
There's enough there for me to assume there was definitely sexual assault involved. I don't think exposing yourself in your bathrobe and jerking off into a potter plant would necessarily classify as assault, but that's a clear cut example of harassment for sure. This isn't even a maybe.
There are also enough fake rape cases for me to assume nothing. There was a high profile case in Australia in which a woman sued formal David Jones CEO Mark McInnes of sexual harassment for $37 million and swore to donate all the money she would receive to charity so none could assume she did it for extortion and money. The case is supposed to be a watershed moment for sexual harassment in Australia.
In the end she got a large settlement and it was reported not even a cent of that money made to charity. If she lied about that, then what else she lied about?
I know full well there's plenty of women who lie about rape. It's a sad and unfortunate reality especially when your hear of men that lost 10+ years of their lives just over a lie. But that's what the investigation is for. Time will tell if he committed rape or not. Sexual harassment though is for sure in the bag.
There are reports of violent assaults, real forcible rape, not just unwanted physical contact. Stay tuned on those.
Also FYI, there are two legal definitions of on-the-job sexual harassment, the first being the exchange of sexual favors for hiring or promotion, or "quid pro quo" harassment. The second is the "hostile work environment", that is, subjecting people you work with to sexual comments or physical contact that make them frightened or uncomfortable. Weinstein seems to be guilty of both, over the long term. I'm not sure how many people can sue him for that, as all actors these days are free-lancers and many victims weren't his employees.
I thought every adult knew the legal definitions if harassment, at every job I've ever had they made all employees go to classes about it.
There are companies even forbid employees to date and dating is definitely legal. The guy's play seems to be wearing a bath rope and ask for massage, I doubt he has been doing it in his office.
