It's 2011 and there are STILL no black female A-list actresses!

I'm not holding my breath waiting for that to happen, since Hollywood is so backward in reflecting the world's diversity on-screen.

There are so many drop-dead-gorgeous black actresses, like Gabrielle Union, that I wanna see in big-budget films, but Hollywood insists on only hyping white or mixed race females.
That's not my preference, so me (and every black male I've ever discussed this with) are always left unimpressed with the female leads.

I doubt Hollywood will lose sleep over it, but there are plenty of black people (including myself) who don't and won't ever pay to see any of the films they churn out when we're barely represented in them.

Halle Berry is 44 years old and she is also HALF WHITE! The Op has a point in America a woman has to be light skinned and mixed in order to become a leading lady. The racism is so entrenched in the USA it is disgusting!

The last true black leading lady was Whoopi Goldberg in the late 1980s and early 1990s

Light skinned black and biracial black is still black. Maybe the topic should be changed to a dark skin black woman, because light skin is still true black.
