The hospital were Wade was born misspelled his name as they typed it on his birth certificate. Wade's mother didn't notice that his name was misspelled until a few years later.

Ok, but he could still go by the correct spelling even though on his birth certificate it's wrong. Like, if a person's name is Elizabeth, she can go by Liz even though it's different on her birth certificate.

Or his mom could have had it changed. Maybe the mom was just dumb and didn't know the difference? I knew an Asian guy named Mathew with one T because his parents immigrated here and didn't know that Matthew has two TTs.
