The Beverly Hillbillies-we will never forget!

An open letter to Lily Tomlin,
What in the name of God were you thinking nearly 20 years ago when you accepted the role of Jane Hathaway in the big screen production of The Beverly Hillbillies???? Was it he money? A devious agent trying to undermine your career from the inside? A lost bet gone horribly awry?
I ask these questions as a long time fan and admirer of your work. A friend had the DVD of TBH and mentioned (after I expressed little interest in seeing it) that "Lily Tomlin plays Miss Jane Hathaway"- the mention of your name was enough to sell me on the idea that it could'nt be that bad if you were in it, but alas, how wrong I was and it how BAD it is!!
I remember how funny you were on Laugh-In when I tuned in every week as a child and being blown away by the depth and gravity of your performance in Nashville and even more so by what you were able to do in the way of saving an otherwise awful film like Moment By Moment but Lily, oh Lily.... I realize it's been nearly 2 decades since that tragic misstep but I for one will never forget.... (sigh).
