His "Blaccent" Finally Exposed by Britney Spears...

I'm glad she spoke out about his retarded black hip hop accent he put on in the early 2000s.

But now every single white rapper does it.
Mac Miller, anyone? Why the fuck is he allowed to get away with it? That asshole takes the blaccent to a whole other level that Timberlake never got to. And it's still cultural appropriation at its worst.

reply

Well some black people have a "blaccent" that they put on when need be.

I've noticed that Michael Jordan has a "blaccent" folksy voice he used when talking to his team and then his "professional" voice when doing press conferences. Two very distinct voices.

Obama also employed this "folksy" voice when he wanted to "charm" people.

reply

Yes, but Michael Jordan and Obama are actually black. That's the whole point. It's cultural appropriation for white people to just put on a 'black' accent when they aren't black. It's as if I, as a white person, were to put on a phony thick Chinese accent and say "Ching chong fried rice"... (I only say that to illustarate a point I would never say that in a real situation)

reply

Obama's African American accent was something he cultivated. He is a Hawaiian boy raised by white people.

reply

Fun Fact: He also is gay and married a transexual man

reply

A lot of black people ramp up their 'blaccent' when they're around other black people , then tone it down when they're with alot of white people. Everybody does it. Even Scottish people play up their Scottish accents more when they're conversing with other Scottish people vs if they were, for example, sitting around with a bunch of Americans .

I think it's kind of annoying when people do that , but I don't think it's a conscious act.. it's like if you go move to Australia eventually you're going to pick up some of their pronunciations just by force of habit.

reply

I don't understand why anyone would want to speak like that.

reply

To appear cool. To shake off your geeky country white boy voice?

reply

You do know "blaccent" originated in the south, yes?

reply

geeky white boy voice inspires confidence and trustworthiness πŸ«‘πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ¦…
