is a terrible writer.

"An odd and compelling beauty" WTF? An odd beauty? An odd sentence is more like it.

Then, "she came from an upperscale Bostonian family." An upperscale? Good lord. Bostonian? I assume he meant an upper-class Boston family (note: Bostonian is a resident of Boston; it's not an adjective.

That's all the critiquing I have energy for, it would just be too time consuming otherwise. And it gave me a headache, so I have to lie down. (However, the show not being able to recover from its bad aura is also a pretty odd phrase.

You can quibble about the 'Bostonian' thing, but if you're seriously clenched up about the 'odd beauty' line you have ridiculously narrow-minded and insular view of writing.
