Even though she found two Oscar-winning roles, the public never really took to her. Good actress, but she was never beautiful enough or publicity-hungry enough to be a sex symbol, and didn't have the range to have a career like Kate Winslet's. Winslet can do a good solid job with any role in any genre, while Swank has succeeded with some roles and failed at others.

So when she hit midlife, and found herself in an industry where there very few jobs are available for women of her age, she wasn't one of the few who were able to keep a career going against the odds.

She made some box office flops like Amelia, Conviction, Spark, Logan Lucky. Probably had something to do with it.
